  • I'm a major Xanga slacker! It's been over a month since I graduated! I got my diploma in the mail the other day, and I'm super excited about that.

Not much else has been going on lately. I'm looking for a job, but not having much luck finding anything I'm qualified for or interested in. If you hear of anything in the Denton/Lewisville/Dallas area, let me know!

In the meantime, I've been really bored and lazy. I need a better schedule, or something to do! Any suggestions will be gratefully considered.

What's new with everyone out there??

  • I'M FREEEEEEE!!!!

It's official: I've just turned in my last assignment for my degree!!!  I'm so excited!  Even better, I should be graduating Magna Cum Laude!

Other than homework, not much has been going on lately.  Tyler and I have been enjoying a lot of quality time in the evenings and on the weekends, which has been great.  I miss my friends, but hopefully now that I'm done with all my school stuff, I'll have more time to hang out with them!

Graduation is in 2 days.  I can't even wrap my head around that, but I'm so relieved!  Now I just gotta get the apartment clean before my mom and Tyler's parents arrive tomorrow evening.

  • 12 Days!!!

Til graduation!  I am SO excited.  I got my letter from the registrar today asking for the phonetic pronunciation of my name and giving instructions on when/where to show up.  Woohoo!

Homework is going swimmingly lately, which is such a blessing.  I had some really tough weeks along the way, but I'm almost done, and I feel so relieved!  Here's what I have left:

    -make corrections/changes/additions to Draft 4

-Module 12 (read/summarize 2 articles, 1 discussion post, and 1 information hunt) ~ skipped this!

-Module 13 (same as above) ~ and this!  (I'm a terrible person, I know!)

-Annotated bibliography (have to read 3 articles about my user group's information seeking behavior, and then find 10 resources for music educators of pre-K and elementary school children, and make all this info into a website).

    -final exam

    That's it!  I'm so glad.

This weekend was really fun.  We went to a lake with our life group on Saturday, which was super-fun.  I got a little too dehydrated, which made me sick, but I recovered after some air conditioning and water.  Tyler tried wakeboarding and kneeboarding, resulting in a bump on his brow bone and a missing wedding ring, which we'll have to replace soon.  Yesterday we went to church, I did homework, and we went to Lance and Jamie's for Ben's birthday party, which was fun.  I got to play with Ben and just hang out, and had a great time!

That's it for now.  I've got some things to do (thank-you cards for my birthday, printing out graduation announcements, and more homework!), so I'll update again later!

  • It's official: I'm not going to graduate school in the fall.  Or anytime in the near futre, for that matter.  I'm really relieved to have made this decision.  I have been way too unhappy and stressed this summer, and I just don't enjoy school like I used to, which makes me sad.  No use in forcing myself to get a degree that doesn't make me happy.

    I graduate in 18 days.  I can't wait!

I have one major project left to finish, 2 versions of a draft to complete, 1 final exam, and a few smaller assignments.  I should be done by August 6.

Yesterday was my birthday.  I did homework, went to the pool, and had a fabulous dinner out with Tyler.  We went to Macaroni Grill and had appetizers, dinner, and dessert!  I even got the birthday song sung to me in Italian, which was beautiful.    I'm hoping to use my birthday money to visit a spa here in Lewisville for a massage and a facial.  I need some pampering!!

I'm going to Colorado in August for a few days to visit my aunt and uncle.  We're going to stay in the cabin they closed on yesterday for the weekend, which will be a nice vacation, I think!  I'll definitely miss Tyler and Pongo while I'm gone, though.

This weekend we're going to a lake with our friends from our life group.  I'm excited about that!  Hopefully none of us will get too sunburned in the process.

That's about all for now.  I should get started on my draft, since it's due on Friday.  Have a good rest of the week!

  • Grad school?

I thought I should update, since it has been quite a while.  I have been very busy with schoolwork lately, not to mention moving and getting unpacked, etc.

These classes I'm in are the core courses for the library science graduate program I'm supposed to start in the fall.  I have not enjoyed them very much at all.  They are far less interesting than I had hoped, and I do not enjoy the coursework at all.  For this reason, I am strongly considering not starting school in the fall.  I would love to take the semester off, and I'll probably find a different job, where I can work 20-30 hours a week.  I think I need some time to reevaluate my life and decide what's best for me and my family in the long run.  I've never felt very strongly about having a career, and I've never really, truly loved working anywhere.  The thought of a normal 9-5 job does not entice me one bit, and I don't feel like that is what God is calling me to do.  The only thing I know for sure that I am supposed to do in this life is to be a wife and a mother.

Keep me (and Tyler) in your thoughts and prayers, especially over these next few weeks as we try to decide what I will be doing after graduation.  This is a really tough decision to make, and we are praying for God's guidance through all of this.

Hopefully I'll manage to update more regularly once I don't have schoolwork anymore.  Only 3 more weeks!
